Moldovans who were stuck on Turkish-Bulgarian border heading home

The Bulgarian authorities allowed the 32 Moldovans and four employees of the transport company, who got stuck on the border between Turkey and Bulgaria, to transit Bulgaria so as to reach the Republic of Moldova as an exception, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Daniel Vodă stated for IPN.

Bulgaria this way responded to the request of Moldova’s Embassy in Sofia to allow the Moldovans to cross its territory. Daniel Vodă noted that entry into Bulgaria for foreign citizens, including Moldovans, is banned until July 31, except for difficult humanitarian situations.

The Moldovans got stuck on the Turkish-Bulgarian border when returning from a trip last week. They were accommodated at a hotel in Turkey by the carrier.

The persons who intend to go on a trip are urged to consult the travel advisories that are updated each Friday and are available on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration’s official website and on the websites and Facebook pages of Moldova’s embassies.
