Moldovans warned to avoid trips to Chad

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration warns the citizens of Moldova against traveling to Chad in Central Africa, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Ministry. The institution has announced that the situation in Chad is tense, especially in the east of the country and the border areas. Owing to the low security level, there have been recorded violent crimes. The risk of clashes between the governmental forces and armed opposition groups and of kidnappings, robberies, armed attacks and even murders persists. The Ministry advises the persons who are in Chad to avoid the crowds, be cautious, respect the recommendations made by the authorities, observe the travel restrictions and to communicate their contact data to the Consular Affairs Department or the Call Center on 080090990 from Moldova and on +373 22 690 990 from abroad. The Moldovans who form part of humanitarian organizations operating in rural areas in Chad are recommended to obey the policy and procedures of the given organizations so as to avoid unpleasant situations. On August 8, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration issued travel warnings for another four counties: Nigeria, Haiti, Syria, and Pakistan.
