Almost 300 Moldovans will come home by the first repatriation mission from the U.S., by a direct New-York – Chisinau flight, on May 16, IPN reports, with reference to the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure.

The New York-Chisinau charter flight is operated by the Polish company LOT Polish Airlines with the newest and most modern aircraft in the world, a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. At the open tender contests, LOT Polish Airlines was represented by the local tour operator My Travel.

The airline that will operate the direct New York-Chisinau flight was chosen in accordance with the regulations approved by the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure.

“We want our citizens to come home safely and are sure that LOT Polish Airlines, which is a regional leader in air transport, will ensure a safe and comfortable journey. I wish the passengers and crew a safe flight,” said Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Sergiu Railean.

This is the first direct transatlantic charter flight that will carry such a large number of Moldovan citizens home.

Of the total 523 applications submitted by Moldovans who asked to be helped to return home, 296 confirmed their intention to benefit from the repatriation flight provided by the Moldova authorities.
