The Moldovans spend 42.8% of the incomes on food, show data of the National Bureau of Statistics for last year. Villagers spend 1.4 times more money than townspeople, IPN reports.
The average monthly income of a person was 1,681.4 lei, an increase of 11.4% on a year before.
One person spent on average 19.2% of the incomes on maintaining the dwelling, 10.3% - on clothes and footwear, 5.7% on health, 4.7% on transport, 4.2% on communications, 1.5% on entertainment and only 0.8% on education.
Remittances from abroad remain a significant source for the budgets of households. They account for about 17.3% of the total incomes. Remittances for the rural population represent 22.9% of their incomes, while for the urban population – 12.3%.
The spending of the population last year varied. The expenditure was the greatest in the third quarter of the year and the lowest - in the first quarter.
