Moldova ranked seventh in the medal standings in the men’s freestyle wrestling competition at the World Junior Championships held in Slovakia. The position was due to the three bronze medals won by Nicolai Grahmez, Vasile Diacon and Samhan Jabrailov, IPN reports.

Nicolai Grahmez beat Macedonia’s Fati Vejseli 15-5 in the match for the bronze medal in the 65 kg weight class. In the 70 kg class, Vasile Diacon secured bronze after defeating Amirhossein Morteza Gholi Kavousi of Iran 10-9. In the 125 kg class, Samhan Jabrailov won against Rahid Hamidli of 3-1 in the match for bronze.

In the women’s competition, Moldova’s Anastasia Nichita won gold in the 59 kg class.
