The Moldovan athletes won five medals at an international freestyle, Greco-Roman and female wrestling championship held in memory of Bulgarians Nikola Petrov and Dan Kolov, IPN reports.

Svetlana Saenko and Yevgheny Nedealko won gold, Natalia Budu and Mariana Cherdevara medaled silver, while Iulia Leorda became a bronze medalist. No Moldovan wrestler has so far qualified for the Rio Olympics. The qualifying competitions will take place in April and May.

Last year the Moldovan wrestlers achieved good results at the first European Sports Games that took place in Baku. All the three medals for Moldova were won by wrestlers, namely Piotr Yanulov, Alexandru Chirtoaca and Svetlana Saenko.
