Moldovan women's basketball team takes 4th place in FIBA Division C
The Moldovan women's basketball team came in fourth place at the FIBA Division C tournament in Armenia, after losing the bronze medal match to Scotland, 67-88, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In the qualifying round, Moldova defeated Andorra (88-62) and Gibraltar (77-47), but lots to hosts Armenia (64-71). Coming off second-best in the group, the team coached by Olga Vergizov qualified for the semifinals, where they lost to Malta, 57-85, who subsequently became Division C champions.
The best result ever achieved by the Moldovan women's basketball team in the FIBA Division C tournament, the lowest-ranked tier of the European Championship, was the bronze medal won four years ago.
