The police caught a Moldova who was wanted by the Ukrainian police in connection with robberies committed in the neighboring country, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the National Police Inspectorate.
The Moldovan, 42, is a resident of Truseni village. He and three accomplices of his are suspected of organizing and committing a number of armed robberies in Chernautsi town. Last spring, the members of the group broke into three houses. In the first case, they entered the house of a family, threatened the members with death and asked for money and precious things. The house owners were tied and electrocuted with an electrical cable.
In the second case, the group stole a large sum of money, golden jewels and other things from a family after threatening them with a gun and a knife. Afterward, they broke into the house of an 82-year-old woman through the window and stole money and goods to the value of over 15,000 lei.
At the Moldovan’s house, the police found an electrocution device, two radio stations, 30 grams of marijuana and two handmade devices for taking drugs. The group members face up to 15 years in jail.
