Moldovan swimmers fail to qualify for semifinals of World Championship

The Moldovan swimmers didn’t manage to qualify for the semifinals of the World Swimming Championship that is taking place in Budapest. Moldova was represented by Pavel Izbishchuk (50m butterfly), Eugen Poponin (100m breaststroke), Tatiana Salcutan (100m backstroke) and Alina Bulmag (100m breaststroke), IPN reports.

Alexei Sankov, who recently set a new world record in the 200 mere freestyle among juniors, is not taking part in the competition for seniors. He is preparing for the World Under-19 Championship that will be held in the U.S., where the Moldovan athlete is training.

The Budapest World Swimming Championship for seniors ends on July 30.
