Moldovan politicians do not know to be sincere and thus receive blows, Viorel Cibotaru
The Moldovan politicians have not yet learned to be sincere with the press and society and to preserve confidentiality when negotiating certain things, considers political analyst Viorel Cibotaru. He stated for Info-Prim Neo that former AMN leader Serafim Urecheanu’s intention to hide the fact that he asked for a post from the PLDM was wicked as this became evident when he was nominated for the post of president of the Audit Office.
Viorel Cibotaru believes that the leader of the PLDM Vlad Filat as well as Serafim Urecheanu should have mentioned subtly that they discussed the position distribution issue. According to him, the insincerity of the politicians in this and other similar cases derives from the fact that the negotiation of posts is considered something shameful. In normal political conditions, the posts represent instruments of control on the power, with the power being the goal of the political struggle. This insincerity creates a vacuum of information needed by the press and society and causes rumors that hit the insincere politicians as well.
The analyst does not rule out that the decision to field the ex-leader of the Moldova Noastra Alliance for president of the Audit Office was a last-minute one. He said that in the Moldovan political culture certain situations are not negotiated by the chiefs, but by intermediaries or persons close to the leaders. “When the intermediaries reach an agreement, the leaders of the parties only sign the papers, giving their consent. “Urecheanu may have discussed with intermediaries, not Vlad Filat, and he accepted their proposal,” Viorel Cibotaru said.
He presumes that the decision to give Serafim Urecheanu the mentioned post could have been also discussed with the leaders of the other parties of the ruling alliance so as to have their support in Parliament.
In mid March, Serafim Urecheanu and Vlad Filat announce that the AMN will merge with the PLDM. The merger by absorption was accepted in the congresses of the two parties on April 9 and, respectively, April 10. Asked by the journalists if they negotiate posts, the two leaders said the national interests are more important to them than the posts.
On April 15, the PLDM proposed Serafim Urecheanu for the post of president of the Audit Office. The proposal was not put to the vote in Parliament as the quorum was not present.
Ex-leader of the European Action Movement Veaceslav Untila, in a program on Radio Moldova, also denied that he asked for posts when they negotiated the merger with the Liberal Party. “We did not discuss this issue. The voters should know that there are parties that put the national interests above the personal ones,” Veaceslav Untila said, replying to the assertion that he may be given an important post, even of head of an institution dealing with national security, made in the same program, Info-Prim Neo reports.
