Moldovan Parliament’s Days in St. Petersburg end with reception

The Moldovan Parliament’s Days in St. Petersburg ended with an official reception entitled “Winter Traditions of Moldova” at the Tauride Palace. The event involved about 300 invitees from culture and science, the executive and legislative powers, the diplomatic copse and business community, IPN reports.

The invitees tasted Moldovan wine and dishes and could see an exhibition of handicrafts and an evening sitting, which is one of the Moldovan traditions. They sang and danced and made pies at the sitting. A performance was given by the Moldovan ensemble “Struguraș”. Carols were also sung by priests of the Metropolitan Community Church of St Petersburg.

The reception was opened by Deputy Secretary General of the Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member Nations Ion Lipciu, who was the main organizer of the event. Dmitri Kobitski, Secretary General of the Council, appreciated the importance of holding events dedicated to the cultural identity of the people of the CIS states at the Tauride Palace. He underlined the active participation by Moldovan MPs in the activities of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly.

In the event, there were read the congratulatory letters of the Administration and Legislative Assembly of Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad Oblast and of the region’s Committee on Foreign Relations.
