The Moldovan Parliament and the Russian Senate signed a cooperation accord at the 3rd sitting of the inter-parliamentary cooperation commission of the two countries held in Chisinau on June 30. The document pursues reaching such priorities as enhancing the exports of the Moldovan produce on the Russian market, attracting Russian businesspeople into the Moldovan business, cooperation in the energy sector, settling the Transnistrian conflict and a series of other objectives, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Moldovan co-chairwoman of the commission, Eugenia Ostapciuc, has described the discussions as constructive and timely for both sides. Thus, they suggested that Russia open up more the Moldovan products. They also have approached the topic of increasing the potential of wine exports. “Moldova has always had good relationships with Russia, what should go on,” Eugenia Ostapciuc said. The Russian co-chairman of the commission, Aleksander Moskalets, welcomed the “constructive dialog” of the sides and said the continuous cooperation between the sides cannot be but advantageous. Asked by media to elaborate on the verge of settling the Transnistrian conflict – a paramount subject on their order of the day – Aleksander Moskalets shirked from a direct answer, specifying that it is the Chisinau authorities to provide a complete commentary first. The next sitting of the Moldo-Russian inter-parliamentary Commission is scheduled for next October in Moscow.
