For over six years, the nongovernmental organizations of Moldova have interacted through the agency of the portal civic.md. The volunteers working for the portal said the NGOs have the chance to make themselves known and to attract investors. Besides the useful information furnished by this portal through announcements and communiqués, it also provides databases and financing offers.
Contacted by IPN, volunteer of the portal Oxana Paierele said that among the challenges faced over time is the effort made by the organizations to become more transparent and open for communication with the beneficiaries and other partner organizations. The website ensures a free platform for communication and helps the organizations that do not have resources to create their own web page to publish information about the projects that were implemented by them or are under implementation and the annual financial reports. The foreign donors appreciate the NGOs’ visibility and the portal offers such a possibility.
According to Oxana Paierele, through the agency of the electronic platform, they managed to create an NGO register where the organizations independently post information about the work they do and the projects they implement. The number of NGOs in this database is on the rise. Until now there were included 362 organizations.
The volunteer said the necessity of such a platform derived from the current requirements as the number of NGOs is on the rise and they need promotion to make themselves visible. However, the NGOs have not yet established an open relationship with the partners and beneficiaries, but this is rather a shortcoming associated with the organizational culture.
Oxana Paierele added that the website contributes to strengthening civil society in Moldova by enabling the organizations to inform about the results achieved by their projects and the campaigns they carry out, mobilizing thus organizations and volunteers. The portal is often included in the communication strategies of NGOs as an instrument of external interaction.
