Moldovan military back from Iraq, decorated
The sixth team of military from the Moldovan Army, who returned from Iraq this week, were decorated Friday with medals, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Those 20 military were engaged in a post-conflict mission of re-establishing Iraq from 19 August to 24 December 2008. Appreciating the performance of the military on the field, Defense Minister Vitalie Vrabie mentioned the biggest success of the soldiers consisted in saving the lives of tens and hundreds human lives. The Moldovans neutralized land mines in Iraq. All in all, those six contingents of Moldovan sappers disarmed 400,000 mines.
Vitalie Vrabie said the National Army has well-prepared military staff to participate in operations of this kind, ready to execute concrete tasks in multinational commandments, promoting the image of the country.
Moldova has participated in the operation of re-establishing Iraq since 2003.
