The Republic of Moldova is interested in organizing training sessions on the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage for the national network of ethnographers and in methodological assistance in updating the National Register of Intangible Cultural Heritage. The subject was discussed by Minister of Culture Sergiu Prodan and his Italian counterpart Gennaro Sangiuliano, IPN reports.
According to the Ministry of Culture, a goal is to organize, together with Italy’s Carabineer Command for the Protection of Cultural Heritage, a workshop on good practices regarding mobile cultural heritage during exceptional situations or armed conflicts.
“This is an important subject primarily in the current geopolitical context when there is an ongoing devastating war close to our borders,” stated Sergiu Prodan.
The two officials also discussed the European course of the Republic of Moldova. Sergiu Prodan thanked Italy for the support offered to Moldova in the European integration process.
“I’m sure that the expected opening of the accession negotiations with the European Union will open up new cooperation possibilities in the field of culture,” the Moldovan official stated at the end of the meeting.
