Moldovan-German Neurology and Neurosurgery Workshop organized in Chisinau
Two endoscope surgeries on the lumbar disc will be performed by German professor Daniel Rosenthal together with the professor Grigore Zapuhlah within the frameworks of the second stage of the workshop “Endoscope lumbar disc-surgery. Demonstrative surgeries”, organized in Chisinau, during August 2–4.
According to the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the Neurology and Neurosurgery Institute of Moldova launched, within the cooperation projects with neurosurgery clinics of Germany, the project on implementing the endoscope method in treating patients with lumbar disc hernia.
During the first stage of this project, the surgery room, of the University Neurosurgery Clinic of the Neurology and Neurosurgery Institute, was equipped with specialized endoscope equipment.
The second stage includes lectures presented by Professor Daniel Rosenthal from Frankfurt on Main and Professor Grigore Zapuhlah from Chisinau and two demonstrative endoscope surgeries, organized for 30 Moldovan neurosurgeons
The endoscope method in treating lumbar disc hernia is a minimally invasive surgery method, allowing performing surgeries to patients with incipient disc hernia, even in ambulatory conditions, with local anesthesia. The surgery is lasting in average 35-45 minutes.
Annually, about 700 surgeries treating the lumbar disc hernia are made in the Neurology and Neurosurgery Institute, this figure constitutes 47% of the total neurosurgery interventions.
