A 35-year-old Moldovan man died in the attack committed by infiltrated Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, the Moldovan citizen worked close to the conflict zone, IPN reports.

Moldova’s Embassy in Israel works in an alert regime and provides only emergency consular services – issuing of travel documents. By October 10, the Embassy received over 300 requests for information about the situation in the country and about commercial flights. The Moldovan diplomats are permanently in contact with the Israeli authorities and the emergency services so as to find out if there are Moldovans affected. The Moldovan citizens who are in Israel are asked to register using the form https://shorturl.at/tvCR9.

The Crisis Cell created by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration decided to delegate two consular functionaries to work at Moldova’s Embassy in Israel so as to increase the institution’s operation capacity. Discussions are being held with airlines to assess the possibility of increasing the number of flights to and from Tel Aviv. Commercial Tel-Aviv - Chisinau and Tel-Aviv – Bucharest flights and flights to other European destinations continue to be provided from the Ben Gurion Airport.

The authorities in Israel announced that control over communities along the border with Gaza was fully taken over by the Israeli military and there are no Hamas terrorist elements in Israel. Moldova’s Embassy underlines the importance of strictly observing the security instructions issued by the Israeli authorities. For questions or assistance, the Moldovan citizens are asked to contact the Embassy in Israel or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ hotline.
