Moldovan delegation to participate in debates concerning Transnistria and South Ossetia
On October 25-27, a delegation from the Parliament of the R. of Moldova will take part, in Strasbourg, in the 9th meeting of the EU – Moldova Parliamentary Cooperation Committee, as part of which, bilateral relations between Moldova and the Community and the implementation of the RM – EU Individual Action Plan will be discussed.
According to a press-release from the Parliament, the delegation will participate in debates concerning Transnistria and South Ossetia as part of the plenary session of the European Parliament.
Later, work sessions of the Committee will take place. The discussion agenda includes aspects that relate to Moldova-EU bilateral relations, especially the visa regime for Moldovan citizens, the management of the TACIS program etc. Also, the economical and political situation of the R. of Moldova will be discussed. Particularly, the committee will discuss upon the situation of mass-media and the new Audiovisual Code, the combat of corruption and organized crime, the functioning of the judiciary system, identifying new sale markets for Moldovan wine and agricultural production, energetic sector of RM. At the same time, the agenda of the work sessions also provides initiation of the dialog concerning the social situation in R. of Moldova, especially on aspects related to the healthcare system, domestic violence, and authorities’ actions on reducing poverty.
Another object of the dialogue, as part of the activity of the cooperation committee, will be the recent evolutions in the process of regulating the Transnistrian problem.
The delegation is led by Victor Stepaniuc, assisting chairmen of the EU – Moldova Parliamentary Cooperation Committee. Other members of the delegation are Angela Leahu, MP representing PPCD, member of the Parliamentary Committee for culture, science, education, youth, sports and media; Serafim Urecheanu, the head of the AMN faction, member of the Parliamentary Committee for social protection, healthcare and family; Vladimir Filat, deputy head of the PDM faction, deputy chairman of the Committee for national security, defense and public order; Stela Gherman, Mp representing PCRM, member of the Standing Committee for culture, science, youth, sports and media; Igor Dodon, Minister of Economy and Commerce.
