Nicu Popescu, Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, had a meeting with the Cypriot Minister of Foreign Affairs Ioannis Kasoulides. The parties agreed to boost bilateral contacts and work together to develop initiatives to the benefit of the citizens of both states.
“I communicated to my counterpart about the progress made on Moldova’s internal reform agenda towards European integration and the security situation in the region, in the context of Russia’s unjust war of aggression against Ukraine”, noted Nicu Popescu.
The sides also discussed other topical issues on the agenda of both states in bilateral, regional and multilateral terms.
“(I had) a very productive discussion on the sidelines of the Ministerial Conference of the Francophonie with the top Belgian diplomat Hadja Lahbib, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Federal Cultural Institutions. We appreciated the solidarity of the Belgian authorities with our country in the context of the dramatic consequences of Russia’s unjustified war against Ukraine, but also the consistent, sincere and disinterested support in our irreversible path towards the European Union”, said Nicu Popescu.
The two officials also discussed ways to strengthen energy security and improve the impact on the economy.
