Moldovan authorities concerned about Russian MPs’ visit to Tiraspol
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Andrei Popov informed Russia’s Ambassador to Moldova Farit Muhametshin that the Moldovan authorities are concerned about the visit paid by a group of Russian MPs to Tiraspol to take part in public events that are not in line with the efforts made to resolve the Transnistrian conflict, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to a communiqué from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, the Russian diplomat on February 7 was invited to the Ministry, where he discussed with Deputy Minster Andrei Popov.
The Moldovan authorities consider that the steps taken by the representatives of the authorities of a state-mediator must contribute to bringing the people from the two banks of the Nistru closer and to settling the dispute.
Farit Muhametshin said the visit made by the Russian lawmakers to Tiraspol was unofficial and thus shouldn’t have been coordinated with Chisinau. The previous days, the Russian MPs took part in a conference centering on the harmonization of the legislation of Transnistria and Russia in Tiraspol.
