Moldovan and Ukrainian militaries organize bilateral peacekeeping applications

Armies of Moldova and Ukraine will organize bilateral peacekeeping applications „South - 2006” in Micolaev region, Ukraine, according to a report of the Ministry of Defense (MA). According to it, the applications, to be held from 24 to 29 July, are organized according to bilateral cooperation plan for 2006 between the Ministries of Defense of Moldova and Ukraine. MA informs that, during the applications, the militaries of both armies will train in organizing a joint humanitarian operation in a conflict zone. According to the head of troop training department J7, Colonel Petru Boico, the National Army will take part in these applications with a troop composed of 31 militaries of the Brigade „Moldova”, of Balti municipality. The same number of participants will be trained by the host country. During the applications, the militaries of both armies will be trained in organizing the service at the control and crossing-border points, patrolling, proving first aid etc. The first applications of this kind between the armies of RM and Ukraine were held in 1998 at the Sirokii Lan shooting range. Last year, the host of applications was the National Army, at the Training Center of the Motor Infantry Brigade „Moldova” of municipality Balti being organized the „Nord-2005” application.
