The joint stock company Energocom won the tender contest for the supply of gas for May initiated by Moldovagaz on the electronic trading platform managed by BRM East Energy SRL, the local branch of the Romanian Commodities Exchange. Thus, about 20 million cubic meters of gas will be delivered in May based on a formula established by Moldovagaz, which includes the TTF Front Month index, IPN reports.

It is the first tender contest in which Energocom took part through the platform of BRM East Energy SRL. The competition involved three bidders. “The exact price will be known on May 1 as it is determined by the closing daily average of the month-ahead TTF prices. It is certain that Energocom’s team has the necessary experience and competence to find partners and competitive offers on international markets and compete on an increasingly liberalized local market,” said Victor Bînzari, interim director of the company.

During the state of emergency, the Commission for Emergency Situations obliged Moldovagaz to purchase gas from Energocom, invoking energy security arguments.

BRM East Energy SRL in April started to organize tender contests for industrial consumers. From January 1, 2025, all large non-household ccustomers will be obliged to make purchases, based on recent amendments made to the Law on Natural Gas.
