The Moldovan athletes won two bronze medals and a silver at the European Clubs WTF Taekwondo Championship that is taking place in Turkey’s Antalya on February 8 – 16. The national squad consisted of Vladislav Arventii, Andrei Rotaru, Vadim Dimitrov, Stepan Dimitrov, and coach Vladislav Mazur, IPN reports.
According to a communique of the Ministry of Youth and Sport, Vladislav Arventii won bronze in the 74 kg class after he beat Hamza Baroud of the Netherlands in the first round, Ilkin Shahbazov of Azerbaijan in the 1/16 finals, Ismael Bouzid of France in the 1/8 finals, and Karol Holubowicz of Poland in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, he was beaten by Croatia’s Toni Kanaet.
Andrei Rotaru won bronze in the 63 kg class, while Vadim Dimitrov won silver in the 54 kg class.
Stepan Dimitrov ranked fifth in the 58 kg class.
