Moldova will sign an agreement with the Paris Club

Republic of Moldova could sign in May this year a debt rescheduling agreement with the Paris Club. “The negotiations with the creditors will be carried out the next week in Washington” declared for the press, on Thursday, April 13 the Finance minister, Mihai Pop. Creditors are willing to accept the rescheduling of the expired $50 million debts, but only with the condition to pay initially 25% of the sum, added Mihai Pop. According to the Finance minister, at Washington will be discussed the 25% payment terms and the rescheduling procedure. Moldova’s main creditor within the Paris Club is the Russian Federation with a 60% share of the expired debts of Chisinau. Other creditors are Germany, Japan and USA. Signing a new agreement with the Paris club is possible after the Govern managed to negotiate in May this year a new Program with the International Monetary Fund.
