Moldova will make effort to maintain dialogue with Tiraspol

The Republic of Moldova will make effort to maintain all the dialogue channels open and functional with the Transnistrian region, with focus on the implementation of the previous agreements and agreeing of pragmatic solutions to the other topical subjects from the agenda of the negotiations. The priorities for 2018 and the actions that are to be taken in this regard were presented in the January 16 meeting of the Sub-Committee on Conflicts between Council of Europe Member States of the PACE Monitoring Committee that was held in Paris, IPN reports.

According to the Reintegration Office, Moldova’s priorities in the Transnistrian conflict settlement process include the mobilization of the foreign partners to support the resolution process, initiation of new positive actions in relation to the population from both sides of the Nistru River and implementation of measures aimed at ensuring the protection of human rights in the Transnistrian region.

Moldova’s delegation was led by the chairman of the Democratic parliamentary group Marian Lupu. The delegation also included the chairman of the parliamentary group of the Communist Party Inna Supac and the head of the Reintegration Office Gheorghe Balan.

A similar initiative, with the intention of ensuring the presence of representatives of Tiraspol at the Sub-Committee’s meeting of September 21, 2015, could not be implemented as planned.
