The Republic of Moldova will host the "Concours Mondial de Bruxelles" this year, one of the most prestigious international wine competitions, IPN reports.
According to the National Office for Vine and Wine, one unique feature of the competition is that it is not limited to Belgium; in recent years, it has been held in over 20 countries. The competition has been running for more than 30 years, and the wine tastings are conducted "blind". Approximately 30% of the wines evaluated receive awards.
Representatives of the "Concours Mondial de Bruxelles" emphasize that, over the past decade, the Republic of Moldova has witnessed a "revolution in the wine industry", reflected in the competition results.
The organizers announced that the competition dedicated to sparkling wines will take place from September 3-5, with over 60 professional tasters evaluating more than 1,000 products.
At the Wine Vernissage event, Moldovan winemakers were awarded 25 gold medals and 25 silver medals.
