Moldova welcomes Azerbaijan-Armenia agreement on peace treaty

The Republic of Moldova welcomed the finalization of negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan on the text of the peace agreement, hailing it as an essential step towards stability in the South Caucasus region, IPN reports.

In a message published on the social network X, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova underlined the essence of this moment, noting that the conclusion of negotiations is "an important step towards achieving lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus region."

The negotiation process between the two sides had been closely followed internationally. According to the authorities, the completion of negotiations on the draft agreement paves the way for the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Recently, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov announced that Azerbaijan and Armenia agreed on a peace treaty. More precisely, Yerevan accepted Baku’s proposals regarding particular points of the agreement.

"As the next step, Azerbaijan expects that Armenia will amend its Constitution and eliminate claims against the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Azerbaijan," said the foreign minister.

The conflict between the two countries broke out at the end of the 1980s.
