Moldova to send humanitarian aid to Ukraine

A batch of humanitarian assistance estimated at 4.2 million lei will be offered to Ukraine for managing the ecological and humanitarian consequences caused by the destruction of the Nova Kahovka dam. The decision was adopted by the Commission for Exceptional Situations.

The aid package includes pumping stations, inflatable boats, food products, and flood relief equipment. The goods will be provided from the supplies of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations and the Material Reserve Agency.

“According to official data provided by the Ukrainian authorities, following the destruction of the Nova Kahovka dam, more than 2,600 houses were flooded, and around 1,700 people were evacuated from the affected region”, reads a press release from the Moldovan Government.

Ukraine and Russia have accused each other of destroying the important dam on the Dnieper River in a Russian-controled area of in southern Ukraine.
