Moldova to receive USD 8 mln for preventing and controlling bird flu
The International Development Association (IDA) will offer Moldova about USD 8 mln within the financing Agreement on control of bird flu. The Parliament ratified on Saturday, July 30, this agreement.
The document aims at diminishing the bird flu infection risk, controlling and reacting in case of pandemics and other human communicating diseases.
The project comprises 3 chapters, which include actions in animal and human health sectors, in supporting actions on informing wide public and coordination.
The agreement offers about USD 1.5 mln for covering damages related to for putting to death infected birds and other actions for tracing down the bird flu virus, as well as fitting out the Pneumonia Hospital of Chisinau with equipment in order to locate the bird flu virus.
The Agreement says that Moldova will be provided with USD 8 mln, USD 4 mln – as grant and USD 4 mln as a 40-year credit, with a grace period of 10 years.
