Moldova to open Consulate General in Sacramento, California

The United States of America has given its consent for the opening of a Consulate General of the Republic of Moldova in Sacramento, in the state of California. The announcement was made during talks held by Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, with representatives of the U.S. Department of State, IPN reports.

"This is an important step in strengthening our bilateral relations and in supporting Moldovan citizens living in western United States. The opening of this Consulate General reflects our continued commitment to support the diaspora and facilitate Moldovan citizens' access to quality consular services," said Mihai Popșoi.

This will be the second Consulate General of the Republic of Moldova on American territory, complementing the diplomatic mission that will be opened in Chicago.

Among the services that will be made available to Moldovan citizens are the issuance of documents, authentication of documents, assistance in emergency situations and other consular services.

"The Consulate will play an active role in strengthening the cultural and economic relations between the Moldovan communities in the United States and the Republic of Moldova," stated the minister said.

This initiative is part of a broader process of expanding the consular network of the Republic of Moldova in order to respond more effectively to the needs of Moldovan citizens around the world.
