Facilities have been created near Cislita-Prut, Cahul district, enabling Moldova to soon export grains by barge through the Prut River.
Irina Gisca, spokesperson for the Ministry of Transport, has told IPN the authorities expect exports via the Prut to reach 300,000 tonnes this year, after orders have already been placed for roughly 200,000 tonnes.
The option of exporting grains via the Prut came in response to requests by grain farmers and exporters.
Those interesting in this opportunity are invited to submit a request to the Giurgiulesti Port. The request will be processed and, after all the fees are paid, the exporter will be included in the transportation schedule.
Up to 1,500 tonnes of grains may be handled in one operation.
The grains will be exported via the Romanian port of Constanta.
