The Moldovan authorities decided to terminate several tens of agreements signed by the Republic of Moldova within the Commonwealth of Independents States (CIS) after a number of ministries analyzed these agreements and ascertained that some of them are not relevant, are not applied or are detrimental to the Republic of Moldova. According to Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, all the foreign polity objectives and participations in international organizations will be subordinated to the European integration objective, IPN reports.
“Our institutions, primarily the ministries, conducted an analysis of the relevance of a number of agreements signed within the CIS. These days, we are launching the withdrawal of the Republic of Moldova from several tens of agreements. We are now compiling the list and will then make it public. About 20 agreements involving the Ministry of Internal Affairs alone will be denounced,” Nicu Popescu stated in the program “Secrets of the Power” on Jurnal TV channel.
According to him, he given agreements are not relevant, are not implemented or are detrimental to Moldova. “Now the Republic of Moldova will join the European Union and absolutely all the foreign polity objectives and participations in international institutions or organizations will be subordinated to the European integration objective,” noted the official.
There are about 330 agreements that the Republic of Moldova signed during the last 30 years. Nicu Popescu said the decision to terminate a part of these agreements is absolutely legal and the process implies the writing of motivated decisions, endorsement, etc. Not only one signature is necessary, but the process has been launched and details will be provided in the near future.
