The national football team of Moldova ranks 173rd in the FIFA world rankings released on October 21. This is the worst position in the history of the team, IPN reports.

The slip followed the defeats sustained by Moldova to Serbia and Ireland. On November 12, the team trained by Igor Dobrovolski meets Georgia within the qualifying competition of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Among Moldova’s opponents in Group D, Wales has the best position – 11th. Austria ranks 30th, Ireland 33rd, Serbia 43rd, while Georgia 122nd.

The FIFA rankings are topped by Argentina. It is followed by Germany and Brazil. The next rankings will be made public on November 24.
