The national football team of Moldova fell seven spots in the world rankings released by the International Football Federation (FIFA) on April 11, IPN reports.
Moldova ranks 138th with 214 points. The fall is due to the defeats suffered in the matches against Montenegro (0-1) and Ukraine (1-2) in the 2014 World Championship qualifiers.
Among Moldova’s opponents in the qualifiers, England ranks best, but slipped to the seventh position last month. Montenegro and Ukraine went up to the 27th and 37th spots. Poland fell two places to the 61st, while San Marino remains last, 207th.
Kirgizstan did a spectacular jump of 59 positions, to the 142nd. Northern Ireland and Georgia slipped 22 places.
Spain, the defending World Cup and European champion, stays at the top, followed by Germany and Argentina.
