Moldova slips 11 spots in global competitiveness rankings

Moldova ranks 97th out of 131 states included in the Global Competitiveness Index Report published by the World Economic Forum. Moldova slipped 11 positions from last year, when it ranked 86th According to the report, Moldova is behind Armenia, Macedonia, Nigeria and the Dominican Republic and is followed by Venezuela, Kenya, Senegal and Mongolia. The United States tops the overall ranking in The Global Competitiveness Report 2007-2008. Switzerland is on second position followed by Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Finland and Singapore, respectively. Zimbabwe, Burundi and Chad are the bottom scorers. The rankings are calculated from both publicly available data and the Executive Opinion Survey, a comprehensive annual survey conducted by the World Economic Forum together with its network of Partner Institutes (leading research institutes and business organizations).
