The Moldovan Government has sent to Ukraine the first installment of a humanitarian aid package worth a total 24 million lei (1.2 million euros), as decided by Commission for Emergencies. Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița traveled to the Ukrainian city of Mohyliv-Podilsky to convey the aid to Vinnytsia Governor Sergei Borzov.
“This aid is a gesture of support from the people of the Republic of Moldova for the Ukrainian people. From the first day of the war, our entire society has mobilized to help the thousands of people who took refuge in our country. Although the Republic of Moldova has enough problems, we consider it absolutely necessary to help our Ukrainian neighbors, who are going through an extremely difficult period”, said Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița.
Interior Minister Ana Revenco sent a message of encouragement to her colleagues in Ukraine. “Those who are now fighting for peace should know that they don’t need to worry about their families in Moldova, about their children, about those who are just taking their first steps and learning their first words. For all of us, the word ‘Peace’ has a supreme value. From the little that we have, we will help with everything we can”, said Ana Revenco.
The donated lot includes medicines, consumables and medical equipment, surgical gloves and masks, electric stations and pumps, bedding, hygiene sets for women and children, disinfectants, diapers and bath sets, but also nonperishable foods. It also contains sleeping bags, mattresses, blankets, pillows.
From Vinnitsa, the seven truckloads will be distributed according to the needs of institutions in different Ukrainian villages and towns. The second batch of humanitarian aid is planned to be distributed to Ukraine in the next period.
