The Interstate Statistical Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States, forecasts an average economic growth of about 7 % for the CIS in 2007. For Moldova, the Committee announces a growth of just 4%, compared to 4.5 % in 2006, which is the lowest pace among CIS member states. In 2007, Georgia will be next to Moldova, with a GDP growth of 5%, compared to 7% in 2006. In general, the majority of the CIS states will mark a decrease in the economic growth pace. In Azerbaijan, GDP growth will reduce from 34%, in 2006, to 30%, in 2007; in Armenia – from 12% to 7-9%, in Russia – from 6.6% to 6%, in Uzbekistan – from 7% to 6%, in Kazakhstan – from 10.5% to 9-10% and in Tajikistan – from 7.3% to 7%. In Belarus, the rhythm of economic growth could remain at the same level – 9.8%, in 2006, compared to the forecasts of 9-10% in 2007. An increase in the economic growth pace is expected only in Ukraine – from 6.3%, in 2006, up to 7%, in 2007, as well as in Kyrgyzstan – from 2.8% to 6%, by the end 2007.
