The National Public Health Agency got 98,280 Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine doses of the over 700,000 doses purchased by the Ministry of Health through the Office for the Management of External Assistance Programs. The doses will be distributed proportionally to all the national vaccination units, IPN reports.
According to the Ministry of Health, the purchase was made as part of the Health Component of the COVID-19 Emergency Response and Support for Micro, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Program, in accordance with a loan agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the Council of Europe Development Bank that was signed on July 29, 2020.
The current lot will bring the number of Pfizer vaccine doses received by Moldova to over 1 million. More than 125,000 doses were shipped through the COVAX Facility, while over 500,000 doses were donated by Romania. Over 959,000 Moldovans completed a two-dose COVID-19 vaccination series in the country so far.
