Moldova negotiates framework-agreement with European Investment Bank
The Government of the Republic of Moldova negotiates with the European Investment Bank about signing a framework-agreement, which would allow attracting financing from the same European banking institution.
According to Veaceslav Pituscan, the head of the Department for economic relations with the EU of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, starting talks was possible after IMF resumed the active program with Moldova. “At present, the European Commission prepares the necessary recommendations for signing the agreement”, the cited source said.
Pituscan mentioned that, at present, the final period of time when the agreement will be signed is not known, but if discussions will develop without difficulties, the document could be signed by the end of 2006 or in the first half of 2007.
After the framework-agreement will be signed, in order to receive financial resources Moldova will have to identify and present concrete investment projects to the European Investment Bank, which must include the financing budget.
