Moldova is close to political crisis, journalist

Moldova does not experience a political crisis at present given the time limits set down by the legislation for forming a ruling alliance and naming a Government. However, we can say that the state is close to such a crisis, journalist Nicolae Federiuc stated in the program “Country” on Vocea Basarabiei TV channel, IPN reports.

Nicolae Federiuc said that from institutional and legal viewpoints, we cannot speak now about a political crisis, but a kind of post-electoral crisis is witnessed. “Over a month has passed since the parliamentary elections and we see that there is no indicator that would show those institutions on which the proper functioning of the states depends can be soon created,” he noted.

According to the journalist, this is a rather complex process that necessitates time and “coexistence” in Parliament. “Time passes swiftly and if the executive bodies are not elected within three months of the validation of the seats, the current Parliament can be dissolved. I think that in such a tense situation, we are close to a crisis,” stated Nicolae Federiuc.

Political commentator Victor Gurău said we cannot say we have a political crisis at present as all the processes that take place match the constitutional limits. A political crisis is when the state institutions are limited in the exercise of their legal and constitutional rights. “At the moment, we do not have something like this. All the institutions work as the law provides,” he stated.

According to the commentator, a political crisis is possible in the future. “The situation in the Republic of Moldova shows a rather profound political crisis that would disrupt the activity of the institutions is possible. We should yet take into account the fact that any electoral process ends with the process of creating the state institutions and of forming a parliamentary alliance and it is evident that we have external interference in this process and not from one side only. We must admit that interference is witnessed from all sides,” stated Victor Gurău.

He expressed his optimism that there is capacity to prevent a political crisis in Moldova.
