Moldova eager to start negotiations on new legal framework between Moldova and EU
The informal meeting of the deputy-ministers of Foreign Affairs in the format EU – Moldova will take place on August 24 in Brussels. There, the officials from Moldova will inform about the commitments they have take upon for overcoming the weak points found by the European Commission in what concerns the implementation of the Action Plan Moldova – EU.
The Moldovan authorities focus on fully implementing the document until February 2008, Moldovan deputy-minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Valeiru Ostalep told a meeting with the EU Ambassadors.
According to Valeriu Ostalep, as a result of the Cooperation Council Moldova –EU held in Luxembourg on June 18, all the national institutions involved in the implementation of the Action Plan received the orders necessary for the liquidation of all the irregularities found by the European Commission.
The deputy-minister confirmed the willingness of Moldova to start negotiations on a new legal framework between Moldova and EU. A separate issue of the discussions referred to the interest of the Moldovan party to spur the participation of Moldova to the EU assistance programmes in the fields of media, fight against corruption, reform of judicial system, observance of human rights.
Also, the parties will discuss the priorities of Moldova as President of 4 regional initiatives – Central European Initiative (CEI), in South East Europe Cooperation Process (SEECP), RACVIAC and CEFTA during 2007-2008. Also, the discussions will tackle the joint actions aimed at ensuring the free movement within the EU space, both of persons and goods and services.
