Moldova deputy FM to attend CoE Committee of Ministers’ session
Moldova’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Valeriu Ostalep will attend the 119th session of the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers, due to take place on May 12 in Madrid, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Among the items to be discussed by the foreign ministers of the 47 CoE member states is co-operation between the Council of Europe and the European Union, including the progress achieved following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between CoE and the EU in May 2007. Other highlights on the agenda are: guaranteeing the long-term effectiveness of the control system of the European Convention on Human Rights, and reaffirming and updating the policy objectives set at the Warsaw Summit of Heads of State and Government.
Lastly, the ministers will adopt a resolution on the list of candidates for the post of Secretary General of the Council of Europe, to be forwarded to the Parliamentary Assembly. They are also due to adopt a Declaration on “Making gender equality a reality”.
At the close of the session, Slovenia will take over from Spain as Chair of the Committee of Ministers for the next six months.
