Moldova, Cyprus to sign tourism cooperation agreement
Moldova and Cyprus will sign an agreement on tourism cooperation. The agreement is to be signed during the visit to Chisinau of the Cypriot Minister of Trade, Industry and Tourism, Antonis Michaelides, to take place on September 12-14.
The Convention on avoiding double taxation and tax evasion prevention as regards the income and capital tax, and the Agreement on mutual protection and promotion of investments are also to be signed during the visit.
Data from the Ministry of Economy and Trade show that in the first half of this year, Moldova’s foreign trade volume with Cyprus recorded 830.6 thousand US dollars, which is by 25.2% more than in the same period last year.
In the first half 2007, economic units from Moldova exported to Cyprus goods estimated at 49,3 thousand US dollars, registering a 14% increase as compared to the corresponding period last year. The main goods exported within that period of time were champagne in the amount of 42 thousand US dollars and grape wines totalling 7.3 thousand US dollars.
During the mentioned 2007 period, Moldova imported goods from Cyprus amounting to 781.3 thousand US dollars, knowing a 26% increase as compared to the same period of 2006. Medicines totalling 550.8 thousand US dollars and fresh and dried citric fruit estimated at 186.7 thousand US dollars were among the main goods imported from Cyprus.
