The Republic of Moldova on July 29 celebrates the 26th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution. Prime Minister Ion Chicu said it is the day when we celebrate not only the supreme law, but also the results achieved with its adoption – the rule of law, democracy and freedom, IPN reports.
“The moment of adoption was a revolutionary event in ensuring democracy in our country and this moment generated ideas, hopes and opportunities for the people. The Constitution reflects the values that we appreciate as people and the ideals to which we aspire as society, guarantees the pluralism of ideas and protects the human rights and freedoms. As long as the Constitution exists, we are protected from political experiments against the state and the people. The constitutional values will become a reality when each of us abides by these values,” says the Premier’s message disseminated on the occasion of the event.
Ion Chicu noted that as the Prime Minister, he will further supervise the observance of the basic law and the proper functioning of the public authorities. The Government will continue to implement the reforms needed to build a democratic future so as to improve the living standards and the people’s wellbeing.
“Dear people, on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution, in the name of the Government, I sincerely congratulate you and urge you to together oversee the observance of the principles and values enshrined in the supreme law and to this way ensure the building of a free and prosperous society where each citizen would be protected by law and would be proud of their country,” wrote Premier Chicu.
