The Moldovan Foreign Ministry and the Foreign Ministry of Montenegro signed a cooperation protocol on Wednesday – the first official cooperation act between the two states, Info-Prim Neo reports. The protocol pursues to intensify the actions strengthening bilateral relationships in the process of European integration of both states and has been signed during the official visit to Moldova by Montenegro's Foreign Minister, Milan Rocen. This is the first visit to Moldova of an official from Montenegro, the youngest member of the UN and the Council of Europe, which declared its independence from Serbia on June 3, 2006. Milan Rocen has met with a range of Moldovan top officials. The talks have focused on the cooperation perspectives in different fields at bilateral, regional and international levels, especially from the perspective of their aspirations of European integration. Moldovan Foreign Minister Andrei Stratan has informed his counterpart on the cooperation within those 5 regional organizations Moldova is now chairing and on the developments in the Transnistrian conflict. Milan Roćen has spoken about the steps undertaken by his country towards the European integration. Montenegro signed a stability and association accord with the EU, as the preliminary country accord is valid since 1 January 2008. Montenegro, as Moldova, has already a common visa issuing center, as the Podgorica Government adopted an integration program till 2012. Earlier, Andrei Stratan was the first Moldovan official to pay a visit to Montenegro, this being the first official contact between the two countries.
