Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian confirmed that the public television channel Moldova 1 started broadcasting in the Transnistrian region, IPN reports.
"After 33 years of absence, Moldova 1 reappeared in the eastern districts of the country. We hope to resume a normal dialogue with those in Tiraspol, a dialogue that we have been waiting for a long time. Ultimately, any crisis can also help us find lasting solutions," said Oleg Serebrian.
The Government’s spokesman Daniel Vodă said that the broadcasting of the public television channel Moldova 1 on the left bank of the Nistru is important for diversifying the media sources available to the inhabitants of the region.
"We will continue to work so that all the citizens in the Republic of Moldova have access to objective information of public interest, including about the fact that namely the EU transmitted humanitarian gas to the region," stated Daniel Vodă.
On Tuesday evening, the member of Moldova’s Parliament Roman Rosca said that in Bender town, the largest telecommunications operator in the region, IDC, started to retransmit the public channel Moldova 1. According to IPN, IDC belongs to the Transnistrian oligarch Victor Gusan. The TV station is reportedly available on the operator's button No. 30.
