"Mold-Alert" will be the name of the emergency alert system launching in Moldova in 2026

The emergency alert system, named "Mold-Alert," will be implemented in Moldova starting in 2026. This alert system will be similar to those used in EU countries and will be activated in the event of extreme weather phenomena that could endanger citizens' lives, according to IPN.

According to the head of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), the messages sent to phones will not use SMS technology but will be delivered simultaneously to all users. Thanks to the 5G coverage across the country, all subscribers will be notified in an operational timeframe of 8 to 10 seconds.

The total value of the project exceeds 440,000 euros, with 92% of the funding covered by European partners.

IGSU representatives announced that when the alarm system becomes operational, authorities will launch an awareness campaign for citizens, and the messages to be sent will be prepared in advance.
