MitOst announces international contest for journalists
The German association MitOst has announced the launch of an international contest for journalists titled “1989 - 2009: Europe in Dialogue”. The contest for the international prize dedicated to the press is occasioned by the anniversary of 20 years of the peaceful revolutions in Europe, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Authors of articles about the unification of Europe from the two sides of the former border between East and West are invited to the contest.
The contest is open to journalists working in the print and Internet media aged between 18 and 35 from the EU and neighboring countries from the Eastern border and from Russia.
Applicants are expected to have a good command of English or German. The materials shall be in the official or regional languages of the participating countries. Another condition is that the materials should have been published in the print or Internet media after August 2008. The deadline for applications is August 20, 2009.
An international jury will nominate ten authors that will be invited to the award ceremony in Berlin this autumn. The best articles will be awarded 2,500 euros and 1,000 euros. The participants will also visit editorial offices and get acquainted with experienced German journalists and representatives of the political and cultural spheres. The best works will be published as part of a special collection in February next year.
