The fielding of a candidate from outside the party for the presidential election undermines the trust in the internal democratic process and devalues the significance of the party’s own members, who are personalities capable of solving any problem of the country. This is how the deputy chairman of the European Social Democratic Party Yeremei Prisyazhnyuk reacted after the party’s leader Ion Sula presented former defense minister Valeriu Plesca as a presidential candidate, IPN reports.
Yeremei Prisyazhnyuk said the decision-making processes must be transparent and inclusive, and the recent events showed lack of respect for these fundamental principles. “In this connection, I’m going to take a decision regarding my activity as deputy chairman and party member. I hope that this reflection will underline the need for a deeper internal dialogue and a realignment with our fundamental values, and will also change the party leadership’s attitude towards the own members. I know that among the members of the party there are mates who share my view on a party dedicated to the common good,” said the deputy chairman of the party.
Valeriu Plesca, who according to the Public Services Agency is the chairman of the political party Christian-Social Union of Moldova, on Wednesday was presented as a candidate for the presidential election on behalf of the PSDE.
