Mircea Snegur left with gratitude, Constantin Tampiza

Former Deputy Prime Minister Constantin Tampiza, who stayed next to Mircea Snegur during the latter’s last days of life, said the first President left with gratitude for the medical personnel – doctors and medical assistants. He wanted to leave a written message, but the doctors didn’t allow him to go home and he didn’t even have power to write.

At the funeral of the first President of the Republic of Moldova, Constantin Tampiza said that his good friend Mircea Snegur regretted having been unable to respond to all the messages addressed to him. He didn’t want to be seen suffering and refused visits therefore. Through his agency, he transmitted apologies to President Maia Sandu for having been unable to meet with her when he was offered.

Constantin Tampiza also said that he will remember Mircea Snegur as a person with great love for everything that surrounded him, as an established family man with love and respect for his wife and children. The death of his wife four years ago in December broke his morale and he carried his pain in solitude.

During his last days, he was very weak, but had the power to wait for his children to say goodbye to the dear ones.

Mircea Snegur died on September 13 at the age of 83.
